Persuasive Proposals and Grants

“You can have brilliant ideas, but if you can't get them across, your ideas won't get you anywhere.” Lee Iacocca

Many of us talk with our hands. At verve, we count our fingers.

  • On the right hand (proposals), we have: scope of work, deliverables, schedule, assumptions and price.
  • On the left hand (grants), we have: community need, grant activities, budget and resources, impact and sustainability or repeatability.

These represent the minimum requirements for proposal and grant writing.

Whether it is a proposal or grant, the purpose is to draw your reader in, create an understanding, demonstrate credibility and believability, and sell your solution whether it is a new public recreation building, or the soup kitchen that will rent space within.

With business proposals, you demonstrate expertise through your team, relevant experience, and the project approach and methodology. You articulate a planned schedule and informed budget. You highlight benefits derived from your solution and the added value that will be achieved. As an extension of the client's team—you live their goals.

With grants, the grantor needs to distribute funding in an equitable manner that will achieve the best social good. They will be your silent partner. Your submission needs to align to their objectives, draw them in emotionally, articulate the societal impact and demonstrate fiscal responsibility.

When you take off your shoes and put on those of the evaluator, your perspective shifts, how you tell your story shifts, your strategy shifts.

It's about uncovering your prospective client’s/funder's needs, challenges and reading between the lines to identify the best solutions.

Development and Training

For proposal development, we can help you strategize, pull in strategic alliances, articulate your value proposition, develop compelling content and supporting material, single voice editing, colour reviews and more.

For grant submissions, we can assess appropriate grant opportunities, strategize, identify potential partners, develop your story, support testimonial creation, ensure alignment to the funder’s requirements, balance emotional with business and then some.

verve offers individual and group training for both proposal and grant writing.
